Best Time to Visit Gran Canaria
When to visit Gran Canaria for the best weather, beaches, and outdoor activities.
Year-Round Destination
Gran Canaria is genuinely a year-round destination. Unlike many holiday hotspots, there is no "wrong" time to visit — just different experiences each season.
Winter (December–February): Peak Season
Winter is when Gran Canaria truly excels. Temperatures reach 20–23°C while northern Europe freezes, making the island a magnet for European sun-seekers. The south coast is reliably warm and sunny. Perfect for beach holidays, cycling, and motorcycle tours.
Spring (March–May): Beautiful
Spring brings warming temperatures and stunning wildflower displays in the interior. Hiking conditions are ideal, beaches are quieter, and the entire island feels fresh and green.
Summer (June–September): Hot
Summer is hot, especially in the south (26–30°C). Peak tourist season with crowded beaches. The north is cooler and greener. Trade winds provide some relief.
Autumn (October–November): Golden Season
Autumn is arguably the best all-round season. Temperatures ease to a comfortable 22–26°C, the sea is at its warmest, and crowds thin out. Perfect for active holidays.
